The Beat Goes On

Cardiac Care announces The Beat Goes On –
a new program to help determine risk for heart disease

Heart Disease is the #1 killer among men and women in the United States (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Surprisingly a large number of those suffering from heart disease do not have any obvious outward signs; for many, their very first symptom is a heart attack. Cardiac Care has initiated a program to help you assess your cardiovascular risk and then help you move in a direction that may keep you from becoming a statistic.

The Beat Goes On is a cardiac screening consisting of eleven components. “Each component helps us build your cardiovascular risk profile,” said Nitin Patel, M.D., cardiologist at Cardiac Care. “Once we build your risk profile, we can then assist you in moving forward to make good choices about your heart health.” The earlier heart disease is detected, the greater the chance that it can be slowed, stopped or even reversed.

“No matter what the results, The Beat Goes On can let you know where you stand in the fight against heart disease,” said Dr. Patel. “What you learn from this screening may very well change the way you live your life.” The Beat Goes On is all about determining your risk of heart disease and providing you with valuable information to ensure that you keep your heart as healthy as possible.

There are eleven components to The Beat Goes On program:

1.    CT scan of the heart to assess hard calcium deposits in and around the coronary arteries.

2.    Lipid panel: Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL & Triglycerides

3.    Blood Sugar

4.    Blood Pressure

5.    Resting EKG

6.    ABI - Peripheral Vascular screening (legs)

7.    Carotid Artery screening

8.    Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening

9.    Nutrition Assessment

10.   Body Composition

11.   Your 10 Year Risk Assessment - assessment of risk of heart disease over the next ten years.

All tests are performed by clinical professionals on-site at Cardiac Care. Results will be given to you the same day. The Beat Goes On team will go over each component with the patient, and explain what the results means to overall risk of heart disease. The Beat Goes On is not intended to replace routine checks and follow-ups with the doctor. If desired, we will forward all of your results to your primary care physician. Any follow up that is done will be based upon your preference and your level of identified risk.

The cost is $150. Since The Beat Goes On is not covered by insurance, payment is expected at the time of service. Screenings are done Monday - Friday by appointment. Call 928-634-3025 to schedule.
